Cricket: Sinha register emphatic win

MUSCAT: Magnificent performances by Dhamikka Premadasa and Ishara Fernando powered Sinha to a huge 114-run victory against Glory Bower Strikers in an A Division clash at Oman Cricket grassy ground 2 in Amerat on Friday.

Batting first, Sinha posted a big 300 for 9 on the board in its quota of 50 overs thanks to brilliant knocks by Dhammika (75 off 82), Chaminda Lakmal (63 off 70) and Manusingha Senuvirtne (35 off 49). Sunil Baby claimed four wickets while Muhammed Rizwan and Malik picked up two each.

Strikers failed to rise to the occasion and folded up for 186 in the 37th over. Oliyath Vazhayil topscored with a strokeful 46 off 27. Ishara was the pick of Sinha bowlers, claiming 4 for 35 while Dileepa Srilal and young Gayash Dias bagged two wickets each.

Brief scores: Sinha 300 for 9 in 50 overs (Dhammika Premadasa 75 – 11×4, Chaminda Lakmal 63 – 8×4, 2×6, Manusingha Senuvirtne 35 – 4×4. Sunil Baby 4-60, Muhammed Rizwan 2-24, Malik 2-41) trounced Glory Bower Strikers 186 all out in 36.2 overs (Oliyath Vazhayil 46 – 7×4, 2×6, Joshin Vincent 23 – 4×4. Ishara Fernando 4-35, Dileepa Srilal 2-12, Gayash Dias 2-21) by 114 runs.

Sarco down Al Mada

Abrar Hussain slammed a 46-ball 67 to steer Sarco to a 94-run win over Al Mada Engineering in a B Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 1.

Despite Abrar’s brilliant knock and Sathisha Achary’s fluent 41, Sarco was dismissed for 178 in the 27th over. Shameer Kariadan claimed 3 for 36 while Kishor Krishnan and Rajesh Shetty claimed two wickets each.

Teetering at 39 for 7, Al Mada was soon bundled out for 84 in the 20th over thanks to superb bowling by Jeethesha Shridhara, who picked up 3 for 13, Zahid Hafiz and Rakesh Patel, who both bagged two wickets each.

Brief scores: Sarco 178 all out in 26.4 overs (Abrar Hussain 67 – 10×4, Sathisha Achary 41 – 5×4. Shameer Kariadan 3-36, Kishor Krishnan 2-24, Rajesh Shetty 2-36) thrashed Al Mada Engineering 84 all out in 19.1 overs (Suraj Rao 28 – 4×4, Shaheer Najeeb 23 – 4×4. Jeethesha Shridhara 3-13, Zahid Hafiz 2-14, Rakesh Patel 2-28) by 94 runs.
