Moscow, Nov 28 (Sputnik) Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, 16th world chess champion, defended on Wednesday his title beating US Fabiano Caruana in tie-break games with the whole score of the match 9:6.

All 12 classical games ended with draws, which is unprecedented for the history of world chess championships.

On Wednesday, three tie-break games at a time limit of 25 minutes plus 10 seconds increment per move ended with Carlsen’s victory 3:0, which made it unnecessary for the opponents to play the fourth game envisaged by the regulation.

The 2018 Men’s World Chess Championship was held in the UK capital of London.

Carlsen became world chess champion in 2013 after the victory over the previous champion, India’s Viswanathan Anand.
