Sabarimala, Dec 1 (UNI) A yet another attempt of women devotees to worship Sabarimala temple here, was foiled, after two women, who began trekking from Pamba to Sannidanam on Saturday, were stopped at Marakkuttam and sent back, following protest from devotees at the sanctum. The women, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, began trekking with the ‘silent’ support of police, to break the traditions and customs of the world famous temple here, devotees alleged.

Devotees alleged that the police was trying to destroy the temple customs in the name of September 28 Supreme Court verdict allowing the entry for women of all ages into the hillock shrine.

Meanwhile, the police arrested three devotees, who protested and blocked the entry of women, and they have been brought to the Pamba police station.

Later, the two women were brought to police guard room at Pamba.
