New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) Providing much relief to the passengers, the Ministry of Railways on Wednesday decided to remove the flexi-fare system in 15 trains and from 32 trains during lean period- February, March and August.
In the scheme, introduced on September 9, 2016, changes were made based on the recommendations of the review committee, after a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General and representations from passengers sought a passenger friendly scheme, an official release said.
Under this scheme, the base fare of the ticket will increase 10 percent with every 10 percent of berths sold.
The scheme has been introduced in 44 Rajdhani, 52 Duronto and 46 Shatabdi express trains.
According to the release, the flexi-fare scheme will be discontinued in trains if the average monthly occupancy is less than 50 percent in the previous year, that is, this could be applicable in 15 trains.
