Windies tour of India, 2018, 3rd T20I; Venue: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
WI 181/3 (20.0 Ovs)
IND 182/4 (20.0 Ovs)
India won by 6 wkts
The Windies have certainly shown a lot of heart and a rather obstinate hunger for a win in the 3rd T20I- the final moments of this tour rather than another manifestation of a meek surrender. 2-0 in the Tests, 3-1 in the ODIs, and 3-0 in the T20Is, all won by India. Playing just for pride after losing the first two matches, West Indies nearly made it possible until the final ball, when a misfield by the bowler cost the visitors the match. India – well, they must consider themselves lucky.
A sparkling knock from Shikhar Dhawan, 92 off 62 balls, guided India to the brink of victory, aided by powerful hitting from Rishab Pant’s 58-run knock was part of the 130-run stand that formed the pillar of the Indian chase. (See also: India V WI ODIs )
A clinical win for India in the larger scheme of things, but certainly a narrow and fortuitous one on the last day of a very long, almost 2-month tour of India for the Windies.
For Rohit Sharma, it was the 11th win in 12 T20Is as captain- the most by a captain after 12 matches.
Kuldeep Yadav, Man of the series
Shikhar Dhawan, Man of the Match
